Closest possible relationships between given pokémon?

May only be useful for roleplaying/fanfics/the like, but meh. I'd use it.
Might it be possible to search through breeding groups and find possible ways for given pokémon to be related? For example, say you had a Garchomp character who had to be related to a Wobbuffet somehow. Since the Blastoise line, the Slowbro line, Lapras, the Feraligatr line, and the Swampert line all share breeding groups Monster and Water1, any of those could have been the father of both the Garchomp and a Gastrodon/Shellos, which, being Water1 and Indeterminate, could have fathered the Wobbuffet (making the characters uncle and nephew). Basically, it would be repeated searching for Pokémon that share certain breeding groups and checking which links are short enough to bother with. The difficulty would probably lie in finding a way to display results understandably.
(It could also be interwoven with the backtrace function to produce relatives with certain moves, but that would probably be unwise to try until backtrace is fixed.)
